Harry Potter Treats

On 15th April 2012 I treated by Grandad to a trip to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour in London. I didn't expect that exactly 4 years later on 15th April 2016 I would be in Hollywood visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.

Hogsmead was perfect. Honeydukes was my favourite shop, naturally. There were so many different sized display jars featuring a rainbow array of sugary treats. The store even featured a doll that grew liquorish hair when you put sickels in the machine!

I picked up a couple of things to remember my experience. A Chocolate Frog and some Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Jelly Beans as well as some sherbet lemons (how cute is that jar?!). I am so happy I managed to squeeze this trip in before I head back to England.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Dreams came true on April 15th 2016. I was lucky enough to visit the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Hollywood. I am so happy that I have been able to spend the last year in an entertainment hub like Los Angeles. I am close to Disneyland (it really is the most magical place on earth!) as well as Universal Studios which means my weekends can often be very exciting.

The Wizarding World had barely been open for a week when I visited and there was a buzz of excitement within the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade. The place was brimming with want-to-be witches and wizards donning fresh Hogwarts robes (despite the 30 degree SoCal weather...). Americans really do everything bigger and better than we do in England. The shopfronts were interactive. It was amazing. If you were fortunate enough to be in possession of a wand from Ollivander's you could use spells to bring the shop windows to life. REAL LIFE MAGIC.

There are 2 rides to enjoy when visiting Hogsmeade one is situated within Hogwarts walls named "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" which is an amazing 3D ride. As well as "Flight of the Hippogriff" which follows the journey of Buckbeak. This is a tame rollercoaster aimed at younger riders. After several turns on these rides Jasmine and I finished our day with a hearty English dinner at The Three Broomsticks! I vlogged the entire day and this is available below:

Back when my Mum came to visit we ate out a lot (my poor waistline...)! One of my favourite restuarants in DTLA is Bottega Louie. They do wonderfully rich, generous, hearty Italian meals. The restaurant is also home to a French Patisserie with cases lined with beautiful works of sugar art. I adore the pastel themed, delicate goodies and the adorable wrapping. My last couple of visits have been with my good friend Shawn who has a gorgeous food blog over here.
